Course Overview: This course began as my own personal self-work journey. I am so grateful and honored that you are coming along for the ride! This is a strategic intention to extend grace to ourselves by journeying down a painfully, beautiful pathway to explore the root cause of the complexities of you. What better gift than to give yourself than a safe, structured space to lean in close, simply listening to yourself, to be deeply understood in a way that resonates with your soul, to validate....or at minimum t acknowledge the residual impact of life moments on you through your lens. Howard Thurman concludes,
There is something in every one of you that waits and listens
for the sound of the genuine in yourself.
It is the only true guide you will ever have.
And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life
spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls...
Course Design: 5 Weeks of Life-Empowering Tools
Session 1: *Maximizing My “Duh” Moments; LIVE Thursday, October 1, 2020; LIVE 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Many people live for and value those "Aha" moments. While those lightbulb moments can be pretty amazing, I completely believe that the extraordinary lives inside of us everyday. single. day. The deal is, at least for me, I have often been around others who have treated me as common, pretty ordinary, or for that matter not-even-enough. I felt as if I had to beg, chase down basic acknowledgements such as a simple "thank-you", endearing greeting, returned correspondence, appreciative gesture. At times, consciously and subconsciously, I believed the lie. I would never have spoken it, but in closer examination I see that my actions screamed it loudly. The greatness that can be so obvious to someone else yet can be completely invisible to me about me is a result of allowing being disregarded by a few to hold too much weight in my life. This segment feels like one of those "duh" moments as we become empowered to see and maximize the greatness that has been in us all along.
Session 2: *Value Assessment: Valet Parking Only; Thursday, October 8, 2020; New Video Session for Weekly Processing and Reflection
Who put that cone here? Have you ever noticed that at certain times of the day, many restaurants transition free spaces into valet parking only spaces. Those business owners understand that at a certain point in the day, the value of that space increases. To maximize their profit making purpose, they opt to take what was once free and reserve it-making it available only to those who are willing to pay the price. Likewise, understanding Tool 1: My I AM Story, should help us to recognize our value. There's something to be said about understanding increased value and setting proper boundaries, expectations, requirements to park in your life space. Let's explore together Tool 2: The Power of No, Not Now, Never, and Nevermind.
Session 3: *WHITE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM: I see you.; LIVE Thursday, October 15 2020; LIVE 7:00 - 8:00 PM
That big thing over there, that shows up everywhere, that I have been taught to pretend I do not see, PSA: I see you.
As with a literal elephant trampling big, loosely, clumsily through spaces injuring whatever is in the path, we too may have found ourselves innocently wounded by simply being in a path. Whether as children or even adults, those wounds resonant, they are real, and have to be acknowledged so that we can have a fighting chance at overcoming them. After all, can somebody please explain to me how I am supposed to pretend that I can not see, do not feel, have not noticed the bruises and wounds that a WHOLE elephant has on my life? As a disclaimer, this session is about creating solutions not casting shame. It is designed to empower us to acknowledge the white elephant in the room, assess the damage and address it by creating our own unique closure. Tool 3: A3
Session 4: *The Grace Factor: Thursday, October 22, 2020 ; New Video Session for Weekly Processing and Reflection
Of course, it is commonly said that we are our own worst critics. We pretty much get that...but what now? What I have learned is that much of that self-criticism regarding one moment or specific issue is often grounded in a deeper place, a place of stored emotions, memories, failures, disappoints that all surface with some sense of synchronicity thus multiplying the "uck" lens through which we view ourselves. This session empowers participants to transition from self criticism to compassionate clarity. When we understand each of the above tools, we tap into the ability to really see ourselves. Even our worse parts become more manageable because we understand. With clarity comes the gracious opportunity to fail forward, reset, and engage again on the journey to befriending who we are already. Tool 4: G>R>A>C>E
Session 5: *Maximizing My Time; LIVE Thursday, October 29, 2020; LIVE 7:00 - 8:30 PM.
This perhaps is one of our greatest fears, this notion that we have wasted so much of our best days, wanting desperately to play catch up, to be further along.....wasting time worrying about wasted time. This course ends with a precise engagement on topics such as next steps, strategies, accountability and other variables which help us to recalibrate and go full throttle forward. Now is our time! *Each week participants will be empowered with tangible tools for immediate application. Additionally, students will have contact methods to engage with DRGENALYN for various questions that may surface as the life altering lessons are processed. Both via LIVE sessions and video teachings, students will receive content, curriculum, and community connection to deep dive into this very meaningful work.
